Several people had recommended to us to save the Blue Lagoon for the day of our flight. I was hesitant to due this at first, but I am delighted that I ended up following their advice. And you should strongly consider following it as well if you are traveling to Iceland.
Visiting the Blue Lagoon is an absolute must! We planned this through Reykjavik Excursions as well. They will pick you up at your place of residence, drop you off at the Blue Lagoo...

To visit Iceland there are many good excursions by bus from Reykjavik, a little bit expensive I think but almost everything is expensive there (first of all eating...).I had no time to go to Jökulsarlon to see the iceberg falling down in the ocean but it must be wonderful. To go there you can find excusions on tuesday and sunday.I travelled for the Reykjanes peninsula by car and maybe it could be a good idea (maybe still better than the bus excursion) if you want to see the Geyser and t...

Continued from my London blog...Ok, sleeping in on holiday just isn't allowed I guess. After checking in at our hotel around 2am we passed out cold. M said we could sleep in and take our time getting ready because our excursion didn't start until 11:20. Wonderful I thought, we could sleep in a bit, grab breakfast and take our time getting ready. Everything was still packed and I wasn't worried about it since we had plenty of time to get ready. M still woke up ear...

The most popular tour on Iceland... 8 hours by bus, unfortunately a terrible weather - rainy and windy like I've never experienced before! Many beautiful places, among them: Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir hot spring
area, Kerið volcanic
crater and the Þingvellir National Park (where the Great
Atlantic rift is clearly visible - a rift which is slowly pulling Iceland apart along tectonic
plates). A very interesting day... just sad about all the rain - boring photo weather!

Planning and Preparation
To go or not to go: I decided while in my office and clicked to buy the plane ticket one week before leaving (14-SEP-07). I had Iceland on my mind from early this year and tried to convince friends to go with me. Nobody was interested so finally decided to go by myself. I really needed some time off, far far away...
Plane Tickets: IcelandAir.com: $460 from BWI>KEF (Reykjavik) which required me to drive 5 hours to Baltimore (21-SEP-07 8:30PM returning the 27th ...

Goodbye Iceland:
The next morning we woke up and thought: “Wow! This is actually our last day in Iceland!” Our flight was leaving at 1pm. We packed our last baggage. This was a very strange day; we were leaving Iceland and we were not going to see each other all the time!
We were very few peoples on the flight, so we had fun - laughed all the time!
We also had so much fun at the bus on our way to Tórshavn! :D All of us were so happy - we had had an a...

In a rented jeep I traveled with a friend through these great dark rocky and green landscapes with lots of water(falls) and ice. Very mysterious place to be..

When we arrived at Rekjavik airport, we were a little disturbed to find out that it wasn't actually in the city at all. A short coach journey later (well, it could have been a long coach journey but I fell asleep, so it seemed pretty quick to me), we arrived. Travel rumpled, completely disorientated but with all our luggage and most of our faculties. What struck me about Reykjavik was how nice the city was, it always seemed clean, the building were an interesting architectural mix, the graff...

We had an incredible flight into Keflavik, the view was incredible. The sky was clear and we could really the glaciers and the south-west peninsula in incredible detail, it was just like the maps we had been studying for so long. We were amazed to see the firey sky as we stepped off the plane and it was so late. We asked the bus driver as we arrived in Reykjavik if it would get any darker than it was, his response 'not at this time of year, this is as dark as it gets'. We were delivered direc...
