We left Lima at 4.00 am. Breakfast stop somewhere on our way. After a couple of hours we reached Parasca where a boat was waiting to show us the Ballestas islands (‘Islas Ballestas’). First we saw the ‘Candelabro’, a candelabra-shaped drawing scratched onto a cliffside in the Paracas desert…

BUS JOURNEY AND 1ST NIGHT The journey was pretty short which was good as I felt rough as hell from last nights escapades. We arrived in Ica and were both exhausted but we went for a walk anyway. It is a crazy place. The small town is literally surrounded by enormous sand hills and desert. We climb…

I've never encountered a sand dune before, so when I found out about the dunes in Ica, I immediately made reservations to see the oasis I had read about in my beloved Lonely Planet, which by the way, I accidentally left on my bed! :( Luckily, one of my friends is arriving on the 15th and will be ab…

I couldn't have imagined how beautiful a country could be until I saw it for my own eyes. The land is dramatic with colors, terrain, snow filled mountain tops to lush farm lands. Most think of Machu Picchu as being Peru but there is much more.
