A Necessity Only May 01, 2013
I only spent one night here and picked it mainly for the ease of access to the aiport and the cheap price of the room (£59 p/night for a double room). I don't normally stay in hotels but as an ex-house keeper I have expectations, even of budget hotels. First impressions were good. The reception staff seemed friendly, although slightly disbelieving when I told her I didn't have a device to use internet on so wouldn't be needing wifi! The room was also good on first inspection.

When I looked closer the bed side table was gritty and sticky and when I tried to get into bed I discovered that the sheets had just been thrown on top of the bed, not tucked in or pulled tight at all. I re-made the bed myself before I got in it!

The TV came with a computer keyboard so, out of curiosity, I asked at reception if I could connect to the internet using the TV. Her reply: 'That system doesn't really work and besides you'd have to pay for it anyway'. I guess her honesty was good for me but not really good for her company!

Breakfast in the morning was good and they have a 24/7 food and drink facility which is handy as well.

Overall, I would say stay at this hotel if all you are looking for is somewhere to sleep before/after a flight and you need it to be fairly cheap but don't expect too much.

Close to Airport Apr 13, 2009
I stayed at this hotel for 4 weeks on a training programme all i can say is avoid if possible, it would probably be ok for a one night stay but no longer.

It is in perfect location to the airport as it is in walking distance, if you dont want to walk then you can catch the bus which stops outside the holiday inn opposite.

When we got there and checked in the rooms look ok, quite small but they do have a flat screen t.v, also there are pay for films you can watch. The bathroom is an ok size however the shower curtain seemed to have dirt on the bottom of it and didnt really keep the water from the shower in as there was always water on the floor once we got out of it.

The beds seem to be ok, had a slight memory foam mattress so at least it was comfortable. There is air conditioning in the room however it was temperamental.

The maids came in to "clean" the rooms every day however im not quite sure they can use this expression as i was in the room when they "cleaned" one day and this just was classed as making the bed - no hovering or dusting took place, some times they didn't even remove our rubbish that we had placed by the bin!

While i was there we were only given 2 towels even though there were two girls in the room and we needed towels to dry our hair - oh the towels barely covered you too. I went to reception to ask for another one but was told, i already had two... so one of the days instead of putting the dirty towel on the floor i hid it and then the maids replaced it - i managed to get the amount of towels i wanted in the end.

The bar and restaurant was o.k, the food isnt cheap and if you need to eat there on more than one occasion it will prove to be an expensive trip.

Breakfast i believe you have to pay extra for - dont bother! walk across the road to the holiday inn as there apparenty the breakfast is excellent.

The breakfast at the Ibis consists of continental which sounds ok until you get there and the meat has been left out since 4am! there is no cheese, the bread is stale and the muffins are still frozen oh and when the juice runs out they dont bother filling it up! - i would say this would be just a bad experience however when this happened almost every day for 4 weeks its obviously the normality.

other meals apparently they serve 24hours but on many occasions i wanted to order food and got told they didn't have any - i ended up over at the holiday inn or in the airport! I did however order a snack as there was a menu in our room for it on this there were chips - i called but they told me that they didn't serve chips 24hrs i asked them why not and apparently they aren't a snack - however a jacket potato and pizza is :S

There also tends to be alot of noise at the hotel- kids running up and down the corridors - the reception staff seem to do little about this.

There are also conference rooms at the hotel that you can book out which is useful and you can use the internet there are two computers in reception or you can pay for use of wifi in your room. This is very expensive and dont recommend it if you only want to use for an hour or so.

overall i found this hotel dreadful, it could be just as i had to stay there for such a long period of time and perhaps a night or two would be ok but i certainly wouldn't go back. I got this accommodation at a cheap rate for being there such a long time but i think its around £75 a night which is similar to the holiday inn so i would suggest you stay there.

If you are taking a car you also have to pay to park it there which is £6 a day

The reception was 24hrs which was a plus.

Being close to the airport is also a plus.

The reception staff are also very nice.

They dont seem to have a problem with you ordering take aways and bringing them back.

These however seem to be the only pluses of this hotel

One Night Only Nov 12, 2009
Wasn't going to bother with hotel until they put back my flight time in the morning. Arrived down from Glasgow at 9pm and there were no direction signs for the hotels, either the Ibis or the Holiday Inn Express.

Not a great footpath out of the airport when I had worked out (guessed) that it must be down through the underpass that the road went.

Took about 15 minutes to walk and it is just across the road from the Holidat Inn Express, which you see first.

Reception wasn't great, with 4 people trying to be attended to at the same time. I had booked just the day before, through LateRooms, but when I went to pay they tried to charge the full room rate until I produced the printed off voucher.

Room was on the ground floor, and as I walked along the corridor it didn't look great with one of the panels on a fire door lying smashed.

Room was OK, quite big and comfy bed and an adequte shower and bathroom. Had a flat screen telly on the wall and their were facilities to make tea and coffee in the room.

Headed down to the bar and found the restaurant was closed. I had thought it would open later being that most people staying here would be folk stopping overnight waiting for an onward connection.

There was a limited choice of sandwiches and some hot food like pizza, but they were expensive for what you were getting.

Bar was reasonably priced, considering they were dealing with a pretty captive audience, as the town centre is still about 2 miles away.

Met a German family who had had their flight cancelled and weren't able to get on another flight until the following afternoon.

Headed about midnight sine I was up early doors, and did get a good nights sleep, as despite it being so close to the runway it is very well sound proofed
