Professional and reasonably priced (for London) Mar 03, 2016
Situated in a very good location, the Ibis at Euston would be an appealing accommodation option for most people. Arriving around midday I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to check in a full 2hrs before the stated check-in time. A wide open welcome area, a large reception desk with 6 staff members ensuring smooth transitions.

A couple of fast lifts makes access to any of the five levels with luggage very simple. Rooms are unlocked using a swipe keycard. I did not eat in the restaurant but only because I had other plans, the food prices looked reasonable and I saw that it was often being well used. The doorman and cleaning staff would always say hello, which I thought was a nice touch and added more to the positive experience.

The double room I occupied was very pleasant, a very clean ensuite bath/shower, a comfortable double bed and a kettle with tea, coffee and milk available. I believe a kettle in a room should be mandatory, it's a small thing but makes a big difference when arriving home after a full day exploring London and you can kick back with a hot cup of tea in your room. Some shelving, hangers, hairdryer, extra pillows, thermostat, telephone and a TV (freeview, & some foreign channels) form the rest of the room. Some bad design in the room meant the bottom of the curtain sits on the table underneath and when shutting the curtain I had to move everything off the table, no big problem, just odd.

The bath was on the short side for me and anyone over 5 foot 6 (1.6 meters), but the shower was very powerful with consistent temperatures. Shower gel/soap are provided in the bath and by the sink in fixed tubes which would be handy if you forget to bring some or it's confiscated at the airport. Rooms I believe were being cleaned from 8.30, sheets and towels replaced and refreshments and toilet rolls etc restocked.

There was the occasional noise from the corridor as people walked by, but only as they went to their rooms, no one hanging about. I didn't notice much noise from surrounding rooms, I felt that the walls were quite well soundproofed. My room was located to the back of the hotel, looking down on the backstreet behind. I felt the room was very quiet, even with the window open there was not a load of noise, considering there is a huge station, large streets, shops and a pub within a small radius, it wasn't noticeable.

The room and hotel is not super luxurious but noone should be expecting that, however it is comfortable, safe, clean, well located and affordable for the high priced London. Overall a very good experience at the Ibis Euston, well recommended.

Ibis hotels are not the most expensive hotels on the Accor chain. Don't expect a big room, but you can expect a clean room and a good bed.

The hotel is quite modern, everything seems very new.

Staff is helpful, but I am under the impression, there is a weekend staff and a weekday staff (but both were nice)

The restaurant has a limited menue, but enough choice to serve a 3 day stay.

The grilled chicken was very (maybe to) spicy, the mixed grill was perfect.

Breakfast is not very abundant, but for 7.50 Pounds you have scrambled eggs, bacon, breads, cereals, 10 different kinds of yoghurt:P, jams

cheese and very good coffee. (and much more:)

It must be internationally known, because we shared our table with Germans and many French.

The location at the Euston underground station is perfect to discover London from. All in all the place for me to stay on a coming private trip.
It was a rainy day in London. Ever…
A nice glass of real beer
Grilled chicken for madame ...
... and mixed grill for the master
