hey,
here's a list of decent but reliable hotels in jakarta. Hotel Ibis Kemayoran Jakarta (#2) would probably a good one that is not that far from the airport as well as close to the city attractions. traffic is pretty bad, however, in jakarta. so allow plenty of time to get to the airport. safe travels!

I was about to reply your comment but I guess, you've already found answers. Anyway, just a tip, no need to stay close to the airport unless you're looking for a transit hotel. As o_dog said, there are plenty of cheap hostels in Jl Jaksa. Good luck!

a friend of mine once stayed in Jalan Jaksa which is a budget accommodation area, also known for backpackers' hostel (I've never stayed there, though). She said the hostel was decent and the rate was very cheap (under $5/night). The area is located in downtown Jakarta. I don't think you can reserve a bed online -- don't know if the hostels have website. But the area is pretty popular in the city. I'll say google it and find out :) good luck and have a great trip!
