Ibis Berlin Messe Reviews
Popular hotel for school groups Mar 19, 2014
Room was spacious and beds were comfortable. Amenities were above average for its star rating - there was even an ironing board in the room (which I made use of). Wifi was complementary in the lobby only.
Breakfast buffet: Dining room was big with good selection of food.
This hotel seems popular with school groups from other European countries. During my stay, I saw at least 3 school groups. This made checking out in the morning longer than expected as most of us had to wait forever for an empty lift.
Hotel is far from the city centre. A cab ride from the city centre to Ibis Berlin Messe cost us EUR20.
There is a S-Bahn station under 5 min walk from this hotel.

Dissapointing as a conference hotel Sep 15, 2009
The Hotel Ibis Berlin in Messe is essentially a conference hotel. It is just across the road from the International Congress Centre and out of the way of most things you would like to see in Berlin. I picked the hotel because of its location by the Congress Centre, which is handy, otherwise there would be no reason to stay here.
Like the other Ibis Hotel I stayed at, this one has wifi but charges. As an overnight affair that is irritating but okay, as a conference hotel, where everyone is staying for a week on business, it is just not on. The internet access paid through the website was 29 euro a day! (when I went downstairs I found out that I could buy it at the front desk for 8 euro a day, which is better, but they don't tell you that anywhere on the website) All that for slow patchy wifi with two bars that keeps on dropping out - really crummy. Service at the front desk was also really crummy, I once had to wait 30 minutes for an internet access code.
Today I turned up for breakfast about thirty seconds after 10am. They hadn't started taking away the food and plenty of other people were still eating, but they wouldn't let me nip in and grab a bowl of cereal. The hotel website clearly says breakfast is served until 12pm not 10am, and anyway the food was going to be thrown out and good service involves bending the rules when they don't matter.
I guess this particular Ibis counts soley on its location across the road from the Congress and doesn't try to impress for repeat visits.
