Ibis Bangkok Nana Hotel Reviews
A brand new hotel in Nana area Mar 28, 2009
This is a brand new hotel. It was opened in February 2009. So, when we stayed here during 28-30 March 2009, it have just recently opened for one month. Because of that, we have a promotion price, each room costs only THB 1000 including tax and service. Normally, with the same class, we should pay at least THB 3000 (= USD 90)
Since it is a brand new one, all of the furnitures, decorations, bathroom, everything was new. Unfortunately, the staffs are new too. They seem could not handle check-in process in an efficient way. When we checked-in, there were 3 staffs at the receptionists. However, they were seemed unexperienced, always asked the manager who stand behind them and giving many instruction for how to input the guest's data and everything. Very unproffesional! Even, one of the staff always told me to be patient whenever I approached the desk for asking if it is already my turn to be processed for the check-in. Then, two other guests (not only one!) came into the lobby and they were served before me and I was left alone, sitting in the sofa, wondering why they skipped me and served other 2 guests first. Very upsetting situation! After 45 minutes of waiting, finally one of the staffs served my request for check-in. It was clear that she could not speak English very well. Only the basic standard needed to serve the guest! Then, the strange thing happened. One of the staff who was standing in front of the restaurant all this time (seemed that he was in charge for the restaurant) handed away the hotel trolley to me. You know, the mover that has 4 pillars to carry out your luggages. But, nobody push this trolley for me. There was no bell boys at all! So, I just forgot the idea of having a bellboy, pushing the trolley full of our luggages to the rooms like in a normal hotel experience should be. We just grabbed each of our baggages and reached the lift with these 6 big luggages. We have to do it all alone by ourselves. What an amazing service! In a negative way! So, the biggest flaw of this hotel is the incapability of the staffs to perform such a standard normal procedure in serving people and that is definitely very awkward in the hospitality world! The hotel is also far from the nearest BTS (Bangkok Train Station). It is more than 600 m to get to Nana BTS. At the time we stayed there, the heat in Bangkok is unbelievable! My friend who lives in Bangkok said that it is the hottest month of the dry season in Bangkok. That's why it was very miserable to walk along Sukhumvit Soi 4 where the hotel was located to reach Nana BTS. On the other hand, Sukhumvit Soi 4 is a very touristic street. You can buy almost anything, from meals, fruit, beers, whatever. The night life is very hot! A lot of bars and billiard places if you like that kind of lifestyle. Well, that's all of my review on Ibis Bangkok Nana. I hope they improve the skills of the staffs soon so they will be much better in the future. Part of the Vietnam-Thailand 2009 travel blog |

I stayed at the IBIS HOTEL in Nana's district. In day hours it looks like a little New York with big construction and a great Sky-train system. By night it transforms itself to a Sin-City. Taking the train to Siam Mall was something… LEGENDARY BANGKOK |
