Hotel Meridien Rio -- Now the Iberostar Copacabana Oct 18, 2006
The Iberostar Copacabana, formerly the Meridien Hotel, is the tallest 5 star hotel in the Copacabana Beach area of Rio, and has amazing views of Sugarloaf, the Atlantic, the beach and all the surroundings. It's a 37 story hotel and dominates the skyline in this part of the city.
The hotel sits right on the beach, so its an easy place to stay and get beach access. It's a a great place to take off from for beach combing, people watching, and street shopping. The rooms are clean, well lit and include the standard amenities you would expect in a business hotel (pool, restaurants, bars, health club, high speed internet). The concierge service is very helpful in suggesting restaurants, tours and nightlife options. I recommend the hotel highly, particularly because of its location.
