Ibaraki prefecture is adjacent north of the Tokyo prefecture. It is much more rural than the efficiently crammed city blocks of Tokyo, made up mostly of smaller cities and farmlands.
Most people pass through Ibaraki-ken to get to places like Nikko, in Tochigi-ken or Sendai, in Miyagi-ken.
The capital of Ibaraki-ken is Mito-shi.
Other notable cities in Ibaraki-ken are Tsukuba and Hitachi.

Andrea and I woke up at 5:35 and were in the lobby by 5:45. We checked out, grabbed a taxi to the airport, and got in line. While we were in line we were asked the standard questions: “Do you have any liquids?” “Do you have anything that could be used as a weapon?” “Has your luggage been out of your sight?” We were then informed that our carry on luggage would be checked numerous times.   We got our tickets and then went through customs where the computer crashed and we had...

I am officially a tourist in Japan. Jana, Annie, and I went to Mito where Jana and I switched over our visas. I went from an instructor to a visitor. I have no job and no purpose right now. It is a strange feeling.   We also went to the bank and closed our accounts. Then it was to the post office where we informed them we were moving and gave them our addresses. When I thought about choosing a place where I could spend my exchange semester, I knew that I would love to do it either in South America or Japan. Considering both possibilities Japan suddenly won and I spent there one of the best times of my entire life. I just love that country, its history and customs. It's so mysterious and it's just a question if you dare to make the attempt to discover its secrets.

There is a shrine called Toshoguu in Mito. It was located almost invisibly. There are a lot of Toushouguu in Japan, and this one seemed to be restored its colour recently.
