Beautiful temple Feb 18, 2011
Situated on the outskirts of Vrindavan, but easily accessible from the bus station, lies this gorgeous temple. It’s associated with Srila Prabhupada, founder of the Hare Krishna movement from the 1970s. He had the temple built here quite early on after the movement started.

Despite the relative newness of the temple, the place is steeped in wonderful Hindu tradition. The temple observes the strict prayer requirements and performs the prayers with a lot of attention to detail. The idols are wonderfully decorated and adorned with many flowers, and the temple is frequented by a steady band of followers.

Events that should not be missed here include the aarti (prayer) which gets performed at lunchtime, around noon.

The temple also has a bookshop, accommodation on site (i.e. a guesthouse for devotees, but I think you have to book a little in advance) and a gift shop which sells various foodstuffs. There is also a mausoleum in honour of the late Srila Prabhupada himself.

Vrindavan is full of many temples, but this has to be one of the best ones there. Definitely not to be missed if you go to Vrindavan.
