Expensive but beautiful setting and nice food Aug 26, 2013
A few years ago I visited I Made Joni restaurant and had the most exquisite smoked duck I had ever tasted. So in August 2013, I went to find this restaurant again. It is very well known being the favoured Ubud haunt of many private drivers so it was easy to find. The restaurant is set in a beautiful location overlooking rice paddies where frequently kites are flown. The restaurant itself is well appointed, unfortunately full of tourists, and service while good is relaxed (not hurried). Duck is the featured disk on the menu - the signature smoked duck or alternatively crispy duck. I had the smoked duck while my travbuddy Queenie tried the crispy duck. Both were excellent and large serves (too much for both of us). While the smoked duck was not quite as nice (overcooked a tad) as what I had experienced a few years ago, it was still superb . The crispy duck was magnificent. It is not cheap by Bali standards but for a large feed plus fruit juices the bill came to around $35AUD. Recommended.
