Hyatt Regency Hotel Saint Louis

stayed at the hyatt regency the weekend of may 16th. booked through priceline and got a nightly rate of $55

walk in and they have the most beautiful lobby. a few people were at the little bar in the lobby having drinks. soft music was playing. i liked it. to me it was a nice comfortable scene. check in was 15 minutes or so because of the small line of people. somewhat of a trekk to the room but i wont complain. the room was nice and clean. certainly a place i'd expect to pay more than what i was.

it was convenient to have so many shops and foods places right there in the hotel. we tried several other food places that were no more than 5 minutes by car.

the parking situation is horrible. i heard other people mention a parking garage but i didnt see any. what i saw and felt like my choices were, street parking or valet parking at $24 a day. since it was the weekend (no meter feeding) street parking was probably the way to go. being downtown how many open spots do you think there were on the street? plus when we were there the street was blocked off (part of one day) because of a parade than ran directly in front of the hotel. that actually was pretty cool tho. we ended having to walk across the parade to get to our vehicle that valet brought up.

the arch is 6 minutes down the street. the science center is 15-ish minutes away. six flags was in the area of 30-35 minutes away. decent drive and seemed to go by relatively quick.

except for the parking (which is enough) i dont have anything negative to say about this hotel. IMHO, its not worth staying here full price with valet prices on top of that. probably wouldnt stay here again unless i got similiar (or less) priceline rate again.

James did a good job choosing this hotel, his priceline bid was $70 this is one of the hotels the visiting NFL, MLB, and NHL stays. it is very close to all stadiums. there are many restaurants nearby, you did not have to drive anywhere. the arch is walking distance. we walked to Edward Jones dome from the hotel.

First dubbed the Terminal Hotel when it was built in Headhouse in 1894, the station’s hotel built became the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at Union Station when the entire complex reopened in 1985.

The name may have changed, but its grandeur has only been improved. The hotel lobby boasts a soaring six-story barrel-vaulted lobby with Tiffany stained glass accents. The exquisite plaster detailing and bas-reliefs, frescoes and expansive marble floors are just a sample of the architectural treasures in this remarkably restored Romanesque-style landmark. The 539 luxurious guest rooms and suites offer visitors a choice between the traditional elegance of the Headhouse and the contemporary excitement of the Garden Hotel, tucked under the historic train shed.

The Hyatt’s location also puts you in the center of a festive marketplace that lines the 11-acre glass-enclosed train shed, complete with a one-acre lake.

The Hyatt Union Station has a total of 539 renovated guest rooms, including three floors of Regency Club accommodations and 21 suites. The Regency Club rooms are the original rooms from the Terminal Hotel when Union Station was first built with all-antique furnished, queen-bedded. Visitors can choose to stay in the traditional elegance of the restored Headhouse or the contemporary excitement of the Garden Hotel, tucked under the historic train shed. The Garden’s deluxe accommodations were renovated in 2000 to reflect the history of Union Station. Rooms are richly decorated in gold, burgundy and deep blue, overlooking beautiful gardens or the man-made lake in the Union Station complex. Garden rooms have either a king or two double beds and you can request connecting rooms or adjoining rooms.

The Hyatt Union Station has a full-service health club and sauna, an outdoor pool, a 24-hour self-service business center and over 100 retail shops and restaurants in attached Union Station complex, along with a man-made one-acre lake. Forest Park’s excellent golf courses and tennis courts, the convention center and Busch Stadium are all within a one-mile radius.
