Good Location Oct 11, 2013
The Chicago Hyatt Regency Hotel has a great location and it is usually relatively cheap in comparison with other 4 star hotels in the downtown area. Having said that, I would find some place smaller with more character, like The James Hotel or The Conrad. Both of which will be more expensive, but you could probably rate them as 4.5 star properties and they are much nicer than the Hyatt. However, if you're on a budget and want a 4 star hotel in Chicago close to Michigan Ave., it fits the bill. The rooms vary as it is a huge hotel. Some have been updated, some have not. The service is good and it has a popular bar in the lobby.

Excellent Location & Nice Rooms May 21, 2011
The Hyatt Regency Hotel Chicago is located in the northeastern section of "the Loop". The hotel is the largest not only in Chicago, but the Hyatt group of hotels.

Check in was quick and friendly, the layout of the property was explained to me as well as some information about Chicago.

My room, (Room 975) was located on the ninth floor, faced the adjoining "tower" of the hotel, was clean and modern looking with all the updated furnishings I would expect from that hotel.

The bathroom was spacious and for the most part clean and modern looking. All fixtures worked and the water pressure was good.

Unfortunately, during the stay my neighbors were very inconsiderate of other people around them. At 8pm (just as it started to rain and I don't like to go outside) multiple "guests" (males and females, approximately 4, ages 18-24) in the adjoining room made an excessive amount of noise primarily consisting of loud music (think standing outside of a vehicle whose windows are rolled up and raggeaeton played at full volume, vibrations included) as well as shouting. I contacted the front desk, who informed me that they would place a call to their security team.

When I returned at appx 1:30am, the room was quiet. However, this changed at 2:00am when the group in room 975 returned. In addition to the music, there was a period of heated shouting and yelling. At this point I inserted earplugs and was fast a sleep. The music and noise resumed at 9am.

Internet was available, however, it was the most I paid for 24 hours at $13.63.

Check out was completed by self check out kiosk.

There were many on-site amenities, restaurant, coffee stand, bar, on-site car rental agency, etc.. However since Chicago has so much to offer, I declined to utilize the services, but must give 2 stars at the high cost for internet usage.

I paid approximately $83 (tax included) for a one night stay at the hotel in early May via Priceline.

Overall, given the hotel's excellent location and price I received, I would stay here again (and hopefully I will not need the internet).

Great place to stay! Jul 14, 2011
I stayed at the Hyatt late April. The hotel has two towers. My room was very clean with a very comfortable bed. Apparently there is also a bar/lounge, but I did not get a chance to visit. One thing that was difficult was the parking in/around the area. It's very little to none, unless you want to valet.

It was a good experience and I would definitely stay there again if I had another opportunity. The rooms can be expensive, but the location is great. Cab rides around the loop are less than < $10. Definitely makes up for it!

I highly recommend this spot!

Great hotel right by the Chicago river. Jun 12, 2011
I heard they are finished with their renovations of every I guess it has only become better. I really enjoy staying at this hotel. I had stayed there 4 times while looking for an apartment downtown in the loop. Never had a problem with anything. They even upgraded me to the 33rd floor this last time I was there because I made a comment about the high school kids running around and I didn't want to hear them. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. They always make sure you have been taken care of. The room service is great too. I love the grilled cheese and fries. :) It really had been my home away from home until I actually committed to a home in Chicago.

Great location minus some of the expected amenities Sep 26, 2011
Stayed here for a three day weekend during the summer with some friends. The Hyatt Regency is a great location that made for easy walking to the major sites during the day and cheap cab rides for going out at night. Plenty of good places to eat nearby. The hotel was missing some amenities I have come to expect from major hotels such as no hot-tub (which we discovered after putting on our suits and searching for 10 min) and the gym could have updated. Overall though, the hotel was nice, clean, and in a prime location on the river to use as a starting point to explore the city for the first time. I have read that since I stayed the hotel has cleaned its windows but be sure to be on the look out for all the spiders, even on the high floors!

Loop hotel that was beautiful, cheap, convenient with a view of Navy Pier Aug 14, 2009
I stayed here for the TravBuddy Meetup in Chicago August 14, 2009.

My winning bid on priceline about a week before the trip was $62.00!

VERY friendly service at checkin, I was still able to collect reward points even though I purchased through Because I allowed the checkin clerk to put me in any kind of room without specific bed requirements she put me on the 19th floor at the end of the hall so it was quiet... had a queen bed, and a wonderful view of both the river and Navy Pier/lakefront. I almost felt guilt since my rate was so cheap for a weekend!

Though there was a huge line at check-in it only took about 5 minutes for check-in to be my turn.

The room was a contemporary design, small but not cramped, beautifully appointed and clean. The bed was so comfortable and the pillows were incredible and perfect.

Bathroom was clean and everything worked properly with a nice design.

My clock was also an iPod docking station, which is a nice feature.

Big flat panel tv, spacious desk, convenient internet connection (for a fee), and efficient a/c.

I was also surprised how quick the elevators were in this hotel.

For those staying out late in the Michigan Ave. area there are not a lot of places to eat after 11pm. I was happy to see that the bar in the Hyatt called BIG served food until midnight. I ordered an individual pizza which was tasty and large enough to share.

I recommend this hotel and I would use priceline again to get the best prices.

Staying at the Hyatt Chicago Sep 07, 2008
Okay stay. I did not like how narrow the hallways were. When there is a convention it can be very crowded.
