Hurghada, Egypt -› -› ...
I have written two reviews about our boat trips but at least some basic information should be included here. A couple of tour agents had their “office” (…which consisted of a single desk) in the courtyard of the hotel. The agents would wander around the hotel facility and try to sell their tours. Most of them were very friendly and not too insistent. Two of them always took some time to play with our daughters. Of course it was part of their sales strategy but they did it well...

Day 15. (November 20th):   Woke up 8:30, ate breakfast and went to the pool. It was a bit cold that day – not cold, but colder than the other days. I relaxed in the pool and on the sun-chair.   I met a guy from Denmark. He was very sweet. We talked a lot. After some hours I had to eat.   After lunch we went Belly Dancing. We had so much fun – like the other day. This days’ activity was Limbo. My mother was between the best once, so she had to go to the Olympic Game...

All Alone in Egypt
posted by:

It was November 2001, just two months after the 9/11 WTC drama. The western world was in shock, the people afraid. At the time, stock went down, Arab-phobia became a word and nobody dared to fly. It was also the best time to travel. Moreover, it was the time of year we went to Egypt. We flew in November 6 and went back on the 13th . How lucky can you be? I will tell you. Fortunately, it was a Tuesday.  In the past, there had been attacks by terrorists on tourists. Therefore...

The Red Sea

It's official...I'm in a paradise-like place (minus the Egyptians that hastle us non-stop). The Red Sea is gorgeous.  We took a convoy this morning for a four hour drive to Hurghada which, is perched on the red sea.  We passed through some pretty amazing desert mountains until we came upon the sea which is a beautiful shade of blue.  There are some really nice resorts here and lots of Germans (lots of topless sunbathers too....mostly German).  It seems a lot more well off...

Day 35 - Finally, a chance to relax
posted by:
Apr 05, 2007 - May 16, 2007
On the way out to today’s dive sites, there was help building the excitement on the boat by the sighting of a pod of dolphins, which we spotted and a whale shark, which others on the boat glimpsed; we were too busy sunning ourselves on deck and weren’t able to get to the side of the boat in time to spy it.  The first dive today was on a sight know as “Sabrina”.  It was a drift dive, of sorts.  We were to jump overboard as a group and then following our guide and partial...

Three days after getting my advanced brevet I decided to go to Egypt. Diving in the Netherlands is fun but after september a little cold and dark. So we took the plane and after a 4 hours flight we arrived in Hurghada. We booked a diving packet for 5 days with a belgium company.  My first dive in subtropical water was amazing. I thought I saw nearly everything that exists. Big turtles, parrotfish, big murenes and much more. From that moment I was addicted to travel to blue waters...... ...

Hurghada, Egypt -› -› ...
One week slid into the next.  Halloween we were in port, so after carving a squash with the guests, we headed out for a night on the town.  Another port night, a dozen of us decided to have a toga night at our hangout, the British Bulldog (that was quite a night!).  On my days in port, when I had some time to myself, sometimes I'd learn some windsurfing (the windsurf instructor at the hotel and I got to be friends, so he gave me a couple free lessons), or hang out with the crew...
