Huntley Meadows Park Alexandria Reviews
Quiet hidden gem in Alexandria Sep 17, 2014
This park is a Wetland preserve nestled between Telegraph Road and Route 1. You might think this to be a busy area, but you can rarely hear any of the noise coming from those busy streets.
We love coming here for a nice Sunday stroll or to get away from the heat under the cover of the trees. We've been to this park every season and it's always got something to offer. Turtles, snakes, frogs and lots of birds in the summer and a little fewer in the colder months. Geese like to also visit this park, but those aren't so rare in this part of the country. There are beaver mounts all over the park, but we have yet to spot one. They do exist though, because their presence is noticeable by their distinct bite marks on trees.
PARKING is free, but they do ask for donations. Payment is made by honor system and we like to donate frequently, because we enjoy coming here so much.
There is a visitor center with bathroom facilities and programs for children. They have some animals on display there as well.
A pavilion can be reserved for parties in a shady woodsy area. Perfect for a family event if you don't want to be stuck in the house.
