Huntington Gardens Reviews

Garden near LA Apr 21, 2007
This garden is amazing. There are several gardens within the preserve. I visted in April when the roses were at their peak display and found many other flowers blooming nicely too, such as the camelia forest. There are a few statues in the gardens and at least one inside the galleries with some famous paintings. There is a conservatory (greenhouse?): smells interesting, feels like a sauna. They have many live musical, cultural, and even theatrical events. The day I went they were having an old English festival of some sort so every once in a while I'd see an outdoor play going on here and there as I walked around. There is stuff for kids. There is even a sort of literature museum. There is but one downer to Huntington Gardens: they have lots of lawns but do not allow picknicks! If you enjoy art in the form of horticulture, painings, sculpture, music & performance, and other sophisticated interests then this is your place when visiting the Los Angeles area.

Isn't it beautiful - it's very close to my home. It is true - too bad they don't allow picnics!
