Rainy Day in Budapest
posted by:
Jul 15, 2007 - Nov 20, 2007
Last night we went to a Hungarian dance rhapsody followed by a fantastic night river cruise on the Danube.   Today the weather is a little better hardly any rain warmer and the sun came out for a while.   We visited one of the famous Synagogues in Budapest.  The Dohany Street Synagouge which is beautiful adjacent to the Synagouge is a Jewish Cemetery, is a mass grave of 3000 Jewish people who died when the Jewish area was walled in during WW2.  There is also a Holoca…

Over the past couple of years I have travelled a lot and I have taken many pictures from all over the world. As I do not have time to write blogs I decided to post a selected range of pictures here. up-date will be done not regurarly but from time to time. Please note some pictures have not the best quality as older (1997 - 2000)ones are basically scanned negatives. Should I mixed up any place or so please let me know. Looking forward to any comment or hint. Have fun and enjoy!

Novotel Danube Hotel Budapest

I was very impressed by the beauty of Budapest. It's a city with so many historical cultural places, so many nice (old) buildings and 7 bridges connecting the Buda side with the Pest side. All the sightseeings you can reach by walking what I did. A minor disadvantage is most of the people don't speak English.

Chilling by the Lake.....
posted by:
Jul 10, 2008
Lake Balaton is just a couple of hours south of Budapest and was a great escape from the heat of the city. After hearing there was a huge music festival, Balaton Sound, I decided it was the best way to spend the weekend. The lake is a huge resort town for most Hungarians, in some ways it reminded me a lot of the Jersey shore.  Of course, instead of salt water you had fresh and waves were replaced by hundreds of inflatable rafts where Hungarians would float the day a way. At night, you wo…

Hungry in Hungary
posted by:

We've spent the last few days biking through the Hungarian countryside. The bike paths are pot-holed or non-existant, but the roads are quiet, so it can be quite peaceful. Our favourite part about biking through Hungary so far is the fields of crops we pass on the route. Sunflowers, wheat, hay, corn and many others are are growing tall in this sunny region and attest to the fertility of the Danube flood plain. On the other hand, some of the buildings here in the smaller towns are quite run do…

The Long Day
posted by:
Aug 10, 2007
The Trip began very early. Caught the early bus at 5 from the end of the road as picked people up, and then began the long journey down to Budapest from Krynica Zdroj.  The journey took us through beautiful mountainous scenery of Slovakia and passing through the town of Kosice and across the whole while the tour guide explained about the local history and scenery as we passed through countryside and then across the Hungarian border. Eventually we arrived in  Budapest at about 11, wh…
