"hungarians are a curious breed. despite sitting at the very heart of europe, they speak a language unlike that of any of the countries immediately around them. some have suggested that hungarians are descendants from a race of aliens who landed here and chose this spot to settle. others have argue…

Once on the road, Emil and I sailed through the border controls (still in place between Hungary and Romania until the end of the year). But when I saw the speedometer barely touching 50 km per hour I wondered if I did the right thing by accepting a lift to the airport- at this rate I could’ve run…

I was, we were, quite drunk last night as it was Wayne's great plan for us to get really smashed. Once again I was forced to drink and I really don't know why I am still keeping myself from killing off this dude and then be sober for the rest of my life. I am such a good person I could go on Oprah.…

Many travellers who got far away from home often missed the chance to see what's right in the neighbourhood. Shouldn't happen to me. My country has a couple of neighbours, Hungary being one of them. I've been in Budapest last time 10 years ago for 1 day only, it was time to see more of this beautiful city. And a chance to meet travbuddy Livia who was ready to show me and my two friends (collegues) around. Mix it with a beautuful shiny weather and what comes out is a perfect weekend trip.

Pécs is located in the south of Hungary - 228 km from Budapest. It is easily reachable from the capital - the train ride takes approximately 3 hours. The unique atmosphere of Pécs is largely determined by
the fact that it is a university city with more than thirty
five thousand national and int…

After a fantastic breakfast at the hotel we headed to Memento Park - see the review! It was an interesting visit and it was nice to see the area between central Pest and the park which turned out to be about a 25 minute drive. It was getting colder by the minute, the gloves that I broug…

So I had every intention of finally leaving Budapest last night, but after my failed attempt to get to Eger on Saturday because we didn't get up early enough, I decided to hold over another day so I could get there. Plus, no one can leave this hostel. I think the record is 6 failed atte…

Siofok is a town on the shores of Lake Balaton, one of the largest lakes in Europe. It is advertised as central europe's playground, so I thought it would be worth checking out. Unfortunately, it seemed more like a commerical, packaged resort than the outdoor destination I was hoping for. The only …
