My wife and I had previously taken a Pink Jeep tour in Sedona which was awesome. The jeeps go up on the red rocks on the most gorgeous trails imaginable. Vistas, stops, scenery and thrills too. All close to downtown sedona. The kids were enamored to try the macho Hummer tour the second time we went. Big Mistake! It costs more, for starters. They promise this tour called the "Jeep Eater' which is presumably super rugged. The brochure shows a Hummer up against the Red Rocks (as you really do on the Pink Jeep Tour) -- only the Hummer folks don't have access to the best trails, given forest service regulations. So they take you 1/2 hour out of town, in a freezing, open air Hummer, then spend much of the next 1/2 hour going through boring ranch land on a dirt road. Still no adventure. You are MILES AWAY from the true beauty of Sedona Red Rock Canyons in crappy, scrubby ranch land. Not nearly as scenic as Pink Jeep. Finally, you reach "the jeep eater" portion that the Jeep can't handle. Funny, I wasn't told we had a boring one-hour ride to get to the "thrill." But wait, it gets better: The thrilling portion is a utlility service road under power lines!!!! Yes, very rugged, but also very UNSCENIC. And really, only one portion of the ride was at all exciting. And it lasted 5 minutes. Your driver turns to you and says, "A jeep can't do that!" One little moment out of a two-and-a-half hour ride. Then you drive an hour back through the ugly ranch land and the freezing highway to get back to where you thought you were vacationing. Sedona!!!! Horrible. We asked for a refund of some sort, they told us to write out our complaint, and then never contacted us to respond. Stay away. Take the Pink Jeep Tour over the Broken Arrow Trail and you will be far happier.

I went on this same tour and it was historic, beautiful and so exciting.
The ride out through the ranch land was stunning, so stunning they filmed 43 westerns in this area.
The trail was ine of the mosr exciting things I have ever done, and I have done some very exciting things.
The power lines were barely an issue sunce the trail along them was fabulous.
I recommend this extreme tour to anyone looking for a real thrill!

Thanks for the tip. Nothing scenic about power lines!

Slept very well last night, but still got up around 6AM, don't know if it is excitement or still adjusting to the time change from Ohio. This allowed me to edit more photos and update the blog before I headed out to pick up my rental SUV from Hertz …… Sedona - Red Rock Country
