A small part of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park is made up of this 87 acre lake at the 5,000 foot elevation. In the early days it was used by logging companies to move timber but since about 1920 it has been used only for tourist camping and religious retreats. Closed during the winter but opened in early spring. There are about 70 campsites fairly close by and within two miles there are bike and boat rentals and a convenience store. Campsites require reservation online in advance. If you are in the park, there is a very nice beach, from which you can swim, and play and boat. Fishing in the lake is also very popular. Spending even a few hours here is guaranteed to lower your blood pressure and make life more enjoyable.
