6088m for beginers Aug 05, 2013
Huayana Potosi was the first and only mountain over 6000m that I climbed. Probably I would never be so stupid to climb again because this was not such a great experience for me… My problem was acclimatization which was not done properly in my case. Second part of my climb was a bit of the hell because my head was bouncing, leg muscles were not listening and crevasses that I had to jump over were wide… There are two base camps, first one you get to with the minivan so it is fairly easy, but for the second one you’ll have to spend some energy. From the base camp there I only 1400m to climb. Next camp is on 5350m and it is actually a small aluminum box on the rock. Sleeping there was one of the toughest nights I remember with 130 heart beats per minute all night, water dripping from the ceiling (from our evaporated sweat) and puking sensation from hot dogs and pasta that I tried to eat that night… Anyway, this experience was AMAZING but I am not repeating something like this again.
