Huanchaco Overview

Huanchaco is small coastal village few kilometers from Trujillo, nested on the beach under Peruvian coastal desert. It is famous as one of the world's most ancient spots for surfing and for old and unique-looking fishing vessels called Caballitos de Totora (Reed Ponies). These craft are still used by local fishermen. Close proximity to the city of Trujillo (15 min by bus) and cheap hostels make it perfect spot for exploring ancient local ruins, learning to surf, and hanging out.
