A Pre Inca Pyramind in Mifalores area - Huaca Pucllana Jan 08, 2009
If you are in Lima and want to know more about the Peruvian Culture, I highly recommend you to visit this pyramid, which will give you a better idea about the life of the Pre Inca people in the coast of Peru.

During the pre inca times, Lima was full of pyramids. Unfortunately, nowadays you can just visit 2 and this is one of them. This one is located in Miraflores area, just walking distance from the Kennedy park and since most of the people stay nearby it's so easy to reach it.

But don't expect a city here. For the Lima culture, this place was just a ceremonial and administrative center. You can see 2 areas: The big Pyramid (for religious purposes) & a low part with squares for the daily activities. The walls of the complex have been restored, but you can still find some original ones.

Visit this complex is cheap and there are English / Spanish tours which don't charge extra. The only way to visit it is with a tour. The tours depart every hour, but it depends on how many people are waiting for it. The guide would tell you about the Lima culture and show you around the whole complex. You'd climb the pyramid and get a nice view of the center. It's amazing how it's located right in the middle of a residential area.

The complex also has a small zoo, where you can find some lamas, guinea pigs and ducks. They are still doing some excavations here, so you'd find some archeologists working here.

The entrance fee also include the entrance to the small museum they have. You can find there some of the pottery and things they found during the excavations here.

Right next to the pyramid there is a restaurant. It's not cheap, but has an amazing view of the pyramid, plus their food is delicious, mixing Peruvian and other cuisines...
