Affordable Accommodation at the City Center Sep 18, 2014
We stayed twice at Hotel Fron during our visit to Iceland for a total of 3 nights. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and located at a prime location on Reykjavik high street "Laugavegur".

We stayed in a twin room which was has a flat-screen TV, minibar and in-room safe. The room wasn't spacious, especially the bathroom. We were informed that the room size varies across the hotel depending on the which building and floor you stay in; the newer building has more spacious rooms. All the furniture was new and clean. The hotel has a small parking lot behind and is easily accessible from all around the city. The tour operators would normally drop us at the hotel and provide free pickup service as the hotel is easily accessible.

Hot water was available, but had a bad smell which is normal in Iceland as most of the water is coming from the volcanic ground. The smell reduced during our second stay. Moreover, Wifi is available everywhere in the hotel and is totally free!

In the morning, breakfast was served in the bar/restaurant in the ground floor. The breakfast was continental and decent start for the day. The restaurant served meals later in the day too. We had breakfast only at the hotel, had lunch and dinner in the restaurants around.

Hotel Fron was literally in the middle of Laugavegur Street, most of the restaurants were on that street or close nearby. The harbor was in a walking distance as all attraction were too. Hence, I rated the value of money close in relation to the excellent location.

Overall, we enjoyed the stay at Hotel Fron and would definitely recommend the Hotel. The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable, and available 24 hours a day. They helped us booking few tours, guided us about the area, and coordinated with the tour operators. It was a hassle free stay at Hotel Fron.
