Howletts Zoo Canterbury Reviews
Howl For Howletts Sep 10, 2008
Howletts Zoo; looks small from the outside but on the inside its a differnt story.
Filled with over 200 different species from Rhino; Elephant to my favourite animal the wolf to the smallest of scary critters such as spiders and scorpios or if you like the cute and cuddley; the large
amount of primates from silver backs to sider moneys with the tiniest of toes.
To go around the zoo at an average walking pace takes between 2 - 3 hours. With children who stop and stare or run round because the large number of E's in their system; time may differ. But however long it takes; its worth it. The prices from an adult are £11.50 - cheaper than the admission price for London Zoo and provides a more homely feel.
It has its own Lemur Park - where you can actually walk around the enclosure and get up close and personal with this beautiful animal. You are also free to walk around the grounds upon wich Howletts was produced; allowing you to look at the Manor and the manor gardens. You can also spend the day with a keeper or adopt an animal (prices vary).
It is excellent in summer or winter & open all year around allows familys time to enjoy the setting and the animals what ever the weather. I do advise wellies and a warm jacket in the colder days as the paths can get a wee muddy and in Kent the wind is always cold!
There are facilities to buy food but to save pennies why not take a picnic; sit in the elephant arena and watch the elephants play and eat your butties. There is also a little tuckshop and gift shop that give a percentage of the takings to animal charaties around the world.
