It so happens that during this record cold week, I am in the western Chicago suburb of Aurora. And right outside the hotel is the terminal station of the Metra Train. For $10 you can take the train into Union Station of Chicago. It does take more than 1 hour time since it is a commuter train, but you can't beat the convenience. Regular commuter can get unlimited ride monthly pass and pay a lot less of course, there are also 10-ride passes and special weekend and family passes. You should look up the Metra Train system map at their Metra Train web site and see if you are near any of their lines. And you will also find their schedule and fare information.
