When in the main transportation centers of Kuala Lumpur, such as the Central Rail Station, the Airport, etc, you can't just walk up to a taxi and get in.  You have to first go to a ticket window inside the building, wait in a line, and then tell the person behind the window where you want to go, and pay THEM for the taxi ride; they will then give you a ticket voucher for your taxi.

You then take that outside, and wait in the next queue for your taxi, and then give the taxi driver your ticket.

If you try to skip this first part, and just go out and wait in line for the taxi, you will not be allowed to get in, so it's really important to pay attention and do this correctly!

Have a great time!

The coupon system at KL airport and Sentral stations are fair and reasonable. Never use the taxi drivers who approch you when you got out of the arrival gate.

If you hail a texi by the road side, chances of getting a honest taxi dirver who would willing to use meters are greater then waiting in front of your hotel or hot spots like Puduraya bus station/China town. Always, always ask if the taxi driver uses meter or at least get him to commit a fair price before get on.

Use Saparee the next time you're in KL. I found him towards the end of my trip and plan to use him exclusively next time. I paid RM55 from Shah Alam to KLIA.

If you want him all day/part day or for tours, his rates are:
RM35/hour for 0 - 5 hours
RM30/hour for 5 - 10 hours
RM25/hour for 10+ hours
