How to get a taxi in Addis Ababa Reviews
Taxi in Addis Ababa Mar 20, 2011
In the capital city AddisAbaba we have two type of taxi systems the minibus and small automobiles. The minibuses accommodate 12 peoples and the automobiles accommodate 4 peoples .The maximum number of people they can transport is regulated by law.In terms of price the amount of money they charge is very different. For example for a 3 kilometer ride the automobiles can charge between 30 to hundred Birr(Local currency) depending up on the timing.this amount even can exceed the stated price because most of the time the price is fixed by negotiations between the driver and the person who want's to use the taxi and in nights especially they also may charge a higher prices because the minibus taxis don't give service at that time or they are very few in numbers. When we come to the minibuses the amount of money they charge is regulated by law.and the detail is follows.from 0 to 2.5 km the price is 1.15cents.from 2.5 to 7km the price is 2.4 birr.above 7 km they charge 3.00 birr.
What i advise to travelers or new comers to the country is always to negotiate the price when ever they use the small taxis or automobiles .
And to be aware of the prices whenever they use the minibus since some times when they notice that you are a foreigner or new comer to the country they try to charge more money.
