Houseboat Backwater tour
Houseboat Backwater tour Kollam Reviews
The absolute highlight of a visit to Kerala Sep 20, 2008
A tour through the Backwaters on a houseboat is the absolute highlight of a visit to Kerala, maybe even of Southern India as a whole. It’s a very relaxing way of travelling and can be heavenly after the chaos and noise in the Indian cities. The staff on board is very friendly and they make a wonderful breakfast, lunch and dinner. In the afternoon a fishermen will come by and offer huge shrimps for dinner. These cost extra, but are in no way mandatory. They are very capable of cooking a nice dinner without the shrimp, even if you’re a vegetarian.
You can book a tour in backwater hub towns Kollam, Alleppey or Kochi. From what I’ve heard is that there is a large range of quality, so make sure you see the boat before you book and make sure that the food is included in the price.
