Houma Vacation Guide

This is a great little town with almost everything you need. The people there are extremely friendly and welcoming. Hospitality and Chivalry are not dead here. Although pretty close to New Orleans, Mardi Gras should be experienced here. It can be almost as rowdy, but a lot less lewd. I know that's not everyone's cup of tea, but if you're looking for a great time and real Mardi Gras experience; go to Houma.
The outdoor life here is also tremendous. The fishing and hunting is incredible and offers a great variety. The deer don't get as big as they do in Arkansas or the Mid-West; but they're just as plentiful. In addition to good old fashion bass fishing, the coastal plain also offers brackish and just a few more miles further south the great Gulf of Mexico. Have fun!

This is a drilling rig i work with in the Gulf of Mexico. The rig is located about 160 nautical miles south east of New Orleans, Louisiana. The orange supply boat is the one that i am captain of. We deliver equipment and supplies to these drilling rigs to support drilling for oil and gas exploration. We stay offshore anywhere from 2-8 days and come back into port to off-load cargo and load up again for the next trip.
