Hotelli Ville Tampere Reviews
Surprisingly affordable luxury on the outskirts of Tampere city centre Apr 06, 2010
I cannot compliment Hotelli Ville highly enough, it really was the perfect choice for us, the high level of luxury and amenities on offer was a pleasant surprise. The establishment advertises itself as a 'new kind of hotel' on a self-service theme to keep costs down. There isn't actually a receptionist with whom to check-in, simply an adjoining pub/restaurant where access codes are obtained. Each room has it's own unique code entered via a keypad, this is also used to access the entire building itself so feels extremely safe and secure.
The luxurious amenities were actually nicer than my own at home! Excellent power shower in a large, wet room style shower room. Superb flat-screen television, extremely comfortable beds. The only surprise was the fact that there were two twin beds rather than a double but all in all an excellent, spacious room decorated to the highest level. The building itself is a converted factory wing and is most unassuming from the exterior but the interior certainly has the wow factor with exposed brickwork walls and black marble-effect floors. The adjoining 'Belgian-style pub' actually has a very English feel to it, again with exposed red brick walls and fireplace. A very, cosy atmosphere, I could easily have spent many a night cuddled up in here in front of the roaring fire with a stiff drink :D At €3 a pint for the cheapest lager on draught, it was much more affordable than the bars/pubs in the centre. Unfortunately we didn't sample the restaurant menu: There's always next time!
A variety of rooms are on offer from a single economy room with communal bathroom to the double room with kitchenette for a fully self-catering stay, which is the option we chose. Though even the cheapest single room includes appliances such as TV, microwave, mini fridge, kettle, wireless internet access as well as cutlery and coffee cups.
Prices per room vary from as little as €32 to €60 per room per night, though these are reduced if the duration of your stay is longer than a week, which ours was so the double room plus kitchen only cost us €48 per night. Quite a bargain I thought compared to other hotels/hostels.
Hotelli Ville's clientele consists mainly of businessmen due to the close proximity of the motorway links but is also an ideal refuge for travellers and holidaymakers such as ourselves. The city centre of Tampere was only an approximate 20 minute walk away, closer still is the Hatanpään Peninsula consisting of a reservation park, Manor and arboretum.

Hotelli Ville is highly recommended, I will definitely stay here again when I next visit Tampere.
