Hotel du Soleil
Hotel du Soleil Reviews
French charm Mar 28, 2008
Hotel du Soleil in Saint Rémy de Provence is a typical French village hotel. It has two stars and it's worth it. The entrance is through a fence with the name of the hotel on a rounding plate above (you can't miss it when driving south from the village center). From the fence a private road leads to the back of some houses to a small area with the hotel building in front of you and the nice pool area on the right hand side.
You can park your car near the hotel, which is housed in an average French house. A big one though, because it has more than 20 rooms for guests. The lobby is plain and the staff is friendly. The rooms and the furniture are simple. The bathroom of my room was very tiny. But you're not here to stay in your room. You either are visiting the lovely village of St-Rémy or you're relaxing on the pool. It's a nice stay with value for money. |

I left Avignon after a very petit breakfast for yet another long day trip - the road to Saint Remy de Provence is a huge 20 km drive. Saint Remy is a nice French village, which you cannot pass without giving it a proper visit. I found a lovely small…hotel (Hôtel du Soleil**, 35 avenue Pasteur), dropped my car and walked through the old streets. This is the birthplace of Nostradamus and I wondered if he had predicted my visit. His bust is somewhere above a dirty fountain near Hôtel de Sade… Van Goghs ear |
