Hotel Yangon Reviews
business like hotel Feb 02, 2011
Arriving in Myanmar we spent two nights in this hotel. Before leaving the country (about three weeks later) we spent another night in Hotel Yangon.
The hotel is situated about 10 minutes from Yangon International Airport and about 25 to 30 minutes from downtown Yangon (a taxi will cost you about 4.000 kyat, which is about 4 euro).
To be honest, the hotel is okay, but very standard. Nothing personal, nothing wrong.
First we spent two nights in room 714, which is located at the front of the hotel. A very noisy location because of the traffic. Although at night the traffic slows down.
Another thing was the balcony door not closing perfectly, so beside the noise we had as well the smell of the traffic.
Later we spent one night in room 705, situated on the backside of the hotel. The room was exactly the same, but the lack of noise and smell was a relief!
Spacious, clean rooms with a/c, a fridge, television and complimentary drinking water (two small bottles a day). Very basic bathroom. Shampoo and bath gel provided.
Hotel staff is friendly.
Breakfast in buffet style. Asian style (rice, vegetables etc.) and Western style (toast, eggs any style etc.).
Besides breakfast we didn’t have any meals at the hotel. In the neighbourhood is a nice family style restaurant. Only two minutes walking, called ‘Ykko’. Good food for a very friendly price. Staff hardly speaks/understands any English.
Some small shops where you can buy water, snacks etc. just across the busy street. Take care crossing the road!
