Hotel Veronika Kocevje Reviews
Great little hotel in Kocevje, Slovenia Feb 09, 2011
Hotel Veronika, Kocevje, Slovenia, is a wonderful little privately owned 4* Hotel converted from a beautiful building which was built in 1909 and was designed as a copy of the Summer Palace of the Tsar of Russia.
We discovered the Hotel by accident one night after getting totally lost among the little mountain roads. We were becoming desperate and stopped at a Village Gasthof where the owner gave us directions to Hotel Veronika. It was 21.45pm but the owner, Klemmen, could not have been more helpful. We were all very hungry and he opened his restaurant up again and cooked us the most amazing food, all locally produced. The following morning he even made us a special breakfast dish from the Cep mushrooms that we had collected in the forest the day before. We ate them in the lovely private garden behind the Hotel.
The rooms were delightful, clean, enormous, air conditioned and the en-suite had a full size bath as well as a shower. I love baths!
Even on departure day, there was no rush to get you out of your room. A thoroughly great little hotel with the special personal touch. Klemmen is a great host and nothing is too much trouble for him.
Hotel Veronika also welcomes motorbike travelers.
