Hotel Urbano Miami Reviews
Nice Place May 15, 2011
When looking for accomodation in Miami, cost was also a factor, so that was one of the reasons that made Hotel Urbano appealing.
THe hotel itself was nice, the staff was friendly and it was generally well kept. THere were some interesting pieces of art work on the walls, which was interesting to look at and more importantly, the food we ate there was very tasty- and priced just a little over average. ( I paid- US$10.00 for a tofu burger - which was excellent in taste! And for the coffee I was given as many refils as I needed at breakfast)
The room was not as spacious as I first thought it would have been- we had taken one of the larger ones with a lani attached. It overlooked the pool area, but there were traffic noises as behind the wall of the pool was the main street. If we were on the lanai or the door was opened, we could hear very clearly the conversations of the people below in the bar area. And when we were in the room, with the door to the lani closed, we could still hear some noises from the room next door, or people talking out in the corridor.
It wasnt a big issue as the time we spent in the room was just for sleeping really.
The lobby area was very nice and comfortable to spend time in- I enjoyed the comfort of the oversized furniture and the decor.
THe only thing we didn't like was the location. For us, we wanted to be able to take public transportation and explore downtown Miami, in the reviews we read, it had said it was within walking distance.
In actuality, it was 15 blocks walking. So everytime we wanted to leave the hotel ( since we were not driving) we took a taxi to a point where we could get a bus or train. And then a taxi back to the hotel.
Oh and taxi drivers were not as familiar with the place, so sometimes our cab fare was higher because they drove around a bit uncertainly--- our hotel was at the END of Brickell AVe.
So on average we paid about US$12.00 to taxi to Bayside Market place from where we took buses or trains accordingly. (Bayside is great btw, one of the best places we visited on our trip).
* We had bought Maimi Go Cards- TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!! It made the holiday alot cheaper and fun actually! So I definitely recommend it if you are visiting Miami and want to site see.
