Hotel Tugu Lombok Reviews
Stepping Through the Pearly Gates to a Place Called Tugu Lombok Oct 26, 2009
If Tugu, Malang Hotel wasn't enough, try Tugu, Lombok.
As per my new friend Yudha's advice, I flew to Lombok to try this sister property and was not prepared for the utter perfection of this place.
As you enter the reception area of Tugu Hotel, you are entering a restored Dutch Colonial home that was discovered by the Proprietor after doing much research to locate its whereabouts. It was then brought to this property and rebuilt. The owner then proceeded to recreate the atmosphere of the original entrance, seating area and so forth. As you enter, it gives way to a completely open concept that extends right up to the statue by the ocean.
The rooms, once again designed and individually decorated by the owner
and his daughter, are all durch colonial styling and airy open concepts. The washroom is like walking into an open garden with a deep copper bathtub and outdoor rain shower. So as you relax in this magnificent tub, the frogs are signing you a most particular medley. The amenities are beautifully presented, the oil essence burn an aroma that fills each room and there is always a soft, bamboo music in the background playing so faintly.
To walk the grounds is to be enveloped in a calm serenity so rarely encountered in todays world that you can almost hear the sound of your own heartbeat.
The property is an endless 6 hectors yet there is but a small number of rooms and villas, giving it a feel of an oasis rather than a resort.
The Spa gives a feel of open concept yet it is surrounded by walls, floors and ceilings that are a work of art in and of itself. The center hold a large jacuzzi, all hand built, and the ceiling are created with stained glass to allow a masterpiece effect of light to dance inside the room with hand painted ceilings.
Because some of the walls are open, the swallows fly in and swirl around the room as if performing a ritualistic dance just for you.
If all this is still not enough for you, Riadi- the top masseur on the property will give you the most gratifying, deep tissue massage with hands that work wonders. His level of professionalism is top of the line.
The grounds are beautifully kept, there is a free flowing pool and the beach is spectacular. You have an 18 whole top notch golf course and your stay would not be complete without embarking on a boat excursion to Gilis Islands.
I would recommend this property in a heart beat and tomorrow I will move on to the 3rd of 4 properties, Tugu Bali.
Photos will follow upon my return home.
