Hotel, Disco, Restaurant Under One Roof Oct 02, 2009
I stayed last November (2007) for 2 days and my room was just under $28 per night. The Hotel Tolucan may have been the first high-rise hotel constructed in Toluca. It is very close to the industrial zone (Large Ford Plant and others). I have stayed there since the late 1970's. In its day it was the best level of hotel built anywhere in Mexico. It was built to serve all the foreign visitors (Big Wigs) to their industrial complex. Carpet and quality wood paneling though-out. The rooms are large with two full size comfortable beds, a large tile bathroom with a bidet. The lobby large, wide spacious hallways. The is free ample spacious underground parking. There is a very good restaurant run by a local woman offering well prepared, large portion meals all day. The bar is well stocked. The restaurant is closed on Sundays. On Friday and Saturday nights there is a disco adjacent to the restaurant. Eat early to avoid there frenzy of converting over to the disco. The end wall of the restaurant is actually a siding partition that opens onto the disco proper. The bar in the restaurant becomes the bar for the disco. I usually eat late on disco nights just to watch the transformation. Disco goers begin to show up for an early super on Friday. They come as far as Mexico City. This has been a happening since the late 1970's. The disco crowd is large, lively and friendly. All are welcome. They go until dawn. Even if you don't like to dance it is a great party.
