Hotel Tibet

We booked our stay through the company Social Tours as part of a package which included 2 nights at the Temple Tiger Jungle Lodge. There were 8 of us and we were all really happy with the hotel. Rooms were basic but had everything we needed, they even had TVs and each had a balcony overlooking the street - an interesting one to watch!

The hotel is about a 10 minute walk round the corner and down a straight road to Thamel, and there are loads of little shops to stop at on the way and spend ridiculous money with the hagglers! The staff were friendly, they kept our keys when we went out and remembered our room numbers when we came back. The only thing that was inconsistent was the breakfast. One morning we were given stale croissants, bread to make toast, and some fruit. The next we were given the option of sausages, omelettes, eggs however we wanted, bacon, yogurt, the works! Weird. Maybe you have to get up extra early for the good stuff??

We didn't eat dinner there, too many other nice places in Thamel - water was expensive at 75 rs a bottle in the hotel so buy your bottles round the corner for 15-25 rs a bottle. The water from the taps is undrinkable all over Nepal. Oh... the electricity would cut out at sporadic intervals and then come back on again a few minutes later. Pretty annoying when you're getting ready in the dark but this happens all over the city and it's not the hotel's fault! It's actually pretty funny looking back.

All in all, great hotel, and a stones throw from the Radisson SAS, where my friend won 5000 rps in the casino on the way home one night! Not bad at all.
