Hotel The Tiger Travel Reviews

Feb 20, 2008
The Tiger is a relatively new property and extremely clean and gleaming. Ideally located and small yet self sustained, it is appointed with all facilities needed to make your stay comfortable. The interiors are all white with contemporary mirror work done on the walls.

Rooms
The 19 rooms are divided into 1 Super Deluxe, 6 Deluxe and 12 Standard rooms. The standard room is very basic but extremely clean. A queen size bed rests here with a chair, some hangers on a stand, and three to four books on a small shelf and a mosquito repellent. The room has an intercom and the hotel provides a television here on request, at no extra charge. The Deluxe room is decorated with a Bollywood theme. The room is much larger and the couch and the bedcover have tiger and leopard prints, in keeping with the name of the hotel. Large Gabbar Singh and Vaijanti Mala posters adorn the walls. Amenities here include a king size bed, air conditioning, intercom, chairs, a divan. Television is provided on request. The washroom is clean with round the clock supply of hot and cold running water. Other amenities include soap and shaving kit on request, at no extra charge.

The Super Deluxe room is very large and has a beautiful view of Lake Pichola. There is a double bed here, as well as a luggage rack, a large mirror, sofa chairs. Colored glass adorns its windows that run on three of the walls ensuring a 270 degrees view. Rajasthani miniatures and brass murals add to the decor. Amenities include air conditioning and intercom. The washroom door has a mirror, making the room appear even larger. The washroom itself is spic and span with a bathtub. Two of the Deluxe rooms have bathtubs as well.

Dining & Facilities
The Tiger has a very pretty restaurant on the top floor. It has open alcoves with jharokhas where you can sit and admire the view of the lake. The decor is typically Rajasthani but the cuisine served is decidedly fusion - be prepared for delicacies such as 'Alu Liver' and 'Penne with Tomato Chutney'. A raised platform in the centre of the restaurant plays host to sitar recitals and table evenings. There is also an option of sitting in the open at the roof top restaurant which has no ceiling above and all around you is the vista of Udaipur's hills and the lake. It has cane chairs and interesting deck chairs that are made to look like traditional cots. There is Wi Fi and broadband internet facility in the restaurant, which will soon extend to soon in the rooms and the lobby too.

The Tiger provides massage facilities and has a Shirodhara room, as well as a gymnasium, sauna and Jacuzzi on the premises - all located in the lobby area. Other facilities include complimentary morning tea, shoe shining, laundry service, car rental, doctor on call, taxi service, currency exchange, folk dance at the culture centre, ticketing services, airport/railway station transfers (at an extra charge) and sightseeing

Location
The Tiger lies in Gangaur Ghat, the touristy heart of the city, the Pichola Lake just around the corner. The airport is 25 km away, railway station is 4.5 km away and the bus stand is 3.5 km away from here.

It's well run, with a friendly helpful staff - most of whom spoke good English. It has in-house internet. It has a good rooftop restaurant. ...
