Om 06:30 word ik voor de eerste keer wakker, terwijl we de wekker ingesteld hebben op 07:30. Wat een luxe!! We hebben nog een heel uur om te luilakken en daar maken we dan ook gretig gebruik van. Om 08:00 uur gaan we op ons gemak ont…Thamel, de wijk waar ons hotel staat, te lopen. We nemen niet dezelfde route als daarstraks, maar lopen door wat kleinere straatjes. We lopen wel een keer vast, zodat we een stukje terug moeten, maar we dankzij onze kleine omzwerving zien we op een klein… Durbar Square

Visa on arrival at Kathmandu requires a passport photo and US $, though other hard currencies are accepted at poorer exchange rates.  Unfortunately, Julie had packed her photos in her checked luggage but there was a photo stall in the immigrati…Thamel.   More by luck than judgement, we find a good hotel on the edge of Thamel opting for heating for an extra $3 a night.   The hotel owners welcome us with a cup of tea and a soft sell on a trek in the Annapurna… Cold As Ice

Oct. 08, 07 Finally Ale and I flew to Nepal by Indian Airlines. On the last day in Calcutta, the hotel man took us to the local market where they sell "silk clothes". We don't wanna go because I needed to pack my stuff but he told the tuk…hotel, it's in Thamel, but we don't agree to stay in Thamel. He told us the truth that he got a commission with that hotel but it is a good one anyway but Ale wanted to check out the hotels he saw in the brochures… Was like I came back home ..

The Brisbane to Bangkok Flight departed at around 10pm on the 5/4/04 and saw us get into Thailand at 5am via Thai Air.  After a 5 hour wait we boarded the Thai Air to Katmandu Nepal -KTM-.  3 hours later we were touching down on what looke…Thamel a suburb in KTM where the majority of the tourists stay.  We booked into the Red Planet Hotel in the heart of Thamel at a cost of  $5 AUD p/p including ensuite with 24 hour hot water, toilet paper, western toilet, and balcony… PART 1 - NEPAL and TIBET

As soon as I sat on seat 7A by the window I dozed out 3 hours journey, I didn’t sleep the whole night in Sharjah Airport. My row was emptied only another 2 Nepalese at the other end. Soaring in a foggy air I still could see the long white range of…hotel right in the center of Thamel area that is very close to the bus station. I don't want to have a long walk in the morning so Marco Polo Hotel is just perfect, only $ 5 per night. After checked in I went to atm to withdraw… काठमांडौ | Chaotic Kathmandu
