As vavuniya is a very small town and it seems not many tourists come to visit and stay in this town according to the guide book, and I did not meet other tourist either when I was there. So I though it should be easy to find a place to stay for a night and I did not book the accommodation in advance. Basically I just turn up at this place and check the room and if it is okay, I stay otherwise I check other places.

I get his hotel from the guide book. I take tuk tuk from bus station to the hotel and it cost Rs500. The ride is very short, less than 5 minutes only. The hotel was empty when I arrived there and plenty of rooms available and I able to check those rooms. Since I am on budget and do not want to spend much on accommodation, especially just for a passing by to break the trip, so I opt for the cheapest room available which cost Rs 1,000 per night without breakfast.

The room is average and basic but cleaner than the other place I have stayed in other part of city in Sri Lanka. There is one single comfortable bed with mosquito net and fan in the room and a box like cupboard to hang the clothing, a small table and chair. The bathroom is really old and rustic; at least they have hot water available for shower. No shampoo or soap in the bathroom, I do not remember if towel provide or not. My room has big window on the side of the wall, unfortunately the windows is facing the dining room so no view from the room. Supposedly there is internet in the building but I am unable to get the connection.

The hotel has a huge dining area which can use for wedding, birthday or other celebration, and the restaurant sell ready food to public and also can order menu and the chef will cook it for me. I ordered chicken fried noodles and it comes up as vegetables fried noodles with separate chicken curry. Taste was good and it was quite cheap meal. I also had Sri Lanka breakfast at this place. The manager or the owner of the hotel and other staff does not speak much English except the cook as he has been working in Malaysia for several years and his English is better and understandable.

The location is good within walking distant from the bus station, market, sights of interest and city centre. Less than one block, across from the hotel, there is one Hindu temple with beautiful carving. It is closed in the afternoon but open around 5 pm. It was very quite at night time as not much traffic around this area and the family around the hotel is very friendly and I feel safe inside the hotel. However it is different story outside the street. Too many people calling but luckily not abusive when I was walking on the street to see the city attraction.
