Hotel St. Augustine Miami Beach Reviews
Nice boutique hotel; I liked it, but there were a few little things that wouldn't make me stay here again Oct 12, 2011
When I go to South Beach and I am not staying with friends, I prefer to stay south of 8th street. It's more quiet when it's time to sleep and when I want noise and mayhem, it's just a short walk or a brief cab ride away.
We booked this place directly from the sight instead of buying a package flight. It is just as expensive if not cheaper than some of the hotels on Ocean Ave. They only have 20 rooms and only 4 have 2 double beds; the rest have 1 king bed. It's small and petite and the rooms are nice.
The bed was super comfy, but the bathroom was a little odd. It would be perfect for a couple. As you sit on the bed, you look right into the open bathroom. The toilet has its own enclosure, the sink and counter takes up the back wall and the shower stall is quite large, but who ever is in the room with you can pretty much see you in the shower unless they are on one particular side of the room. I always put the steamer on (as each room has a steamer in the shower) to smudge the view. The steamer was great in itself and the shower had 3 heads on the side. You could probably fit 4 people in that shower with room with spare. They just shouldna had a glass door or they should have used a frosted door.
Breakfast is served from 8-10m, but it is one of the smallest inclusive breakfasts I've seen in a while: OJ, milk, coffee, yogurt, cold cereal and pastries-that's it. In hindsight, I guess you can't scarf down a bunch of food and then roll out onto South Beach in your little ole bathing suit; it's just that I really like my breakfast!
Front desk staff is pretty cool, but I wish the front desk had more club passes. At the time I went, they honored AAA discount for 10% off the room price, so be sure to ask.
It's a 5 block walk to Ocean and 8th and I like the location. If you have never been to South beach, trust me, when it's time to sleep and you want your peace and quiet, being right on the beach or in the middle of the downtown area might not always prove a good idea. It's worth the short walk or cab ride to stay here.
