I don't know how I do it, but 9 times out of 10, I find one Hell of a deal when booking a hotel. The Silken Indautxu wasn't too expensive and the location was quite alright too when I found it on Booking.com.
Once again, we were surprised when we walked into a gorgeous, spacious room with a beautifully made bed with 200 pillows, a flatscreen tv and a bathroom that would fit an elephant or 2, providing they could make it through the door. And we had a hallway! And chocolates on the pillow each day. And a minibar with overpriced drinks. But no coffee maker as usual. Something that should be mandatory so you can make yourself a nice cup of tea or instant coffee. The hotel area was relatively quiet (if you forgot about the riot we happened to walk in to), a few blocks from Plaza Indautxu and the subway. Convenient to get to on foot, but then most things in Bilbao are. The staff was helpfull once you managed to get their attention by flinging an ashtray at them and spoke some English. Can't say much about the restaurant or the breakfast buffet, as we found them to be too expensive and skipped them. Strangely enough, the hotel restaurant was closed on sunday, as were most establishments in the area. So, great room, great location, complimentary daily chocolates and a fast elevator... well the one that worked anyway. But then you can't have everything, now can you? |
