Hotel Silken Diagonal Barcelona
Hotel Silken Diagonal Barcelona Reviews
Ultra modern, but not centrally located Apr 19, 2009
This hotel has a modern look at every turn. This means a lot of interesting furniture and decoration that is not always functional or comfortable. The lobby looks more like a night club, especially the bar area. The hallways to the rooms are totally black and are only lit by the neon room numbers. The width of the hall also undulates. This combination must make for an interesting walk when if you are drunk.
My room was quite large for the price. A portion of the room projected from main face of the building making the room about 50% larger than the standard room. There were windows on either side of the projected portion with motorized roll-up blinds on each side. This gives you two different viewing directions. The bathroom was all glass including the shower. If you stay with a friend or a non-intimate relative, you may need to leave the room while the other is showering if either of you are the shy type. The Piano Restaurant serves a decent, but rather expensive buffet breakfast. A shopping mall is located across the street. The hotel is located near the Glories circle right next to Torre Agbar. This makes it easy to get your bearings or know whether your taxi is going the right direction. The hotel is located away from the main tourist destinations in the city, but it's only a one mile walk down Avinguda Meridiana to Parc de la Ciutadella. The tram line also runs right down this street. Part of the Mediterranean Cruise travel blog |

The hotel was ultra modern and was located on Avinguda Diagonal right next to the bullet shaped Torre Agbar. It was easy to get our bearings using this building as a landmark. After we checked in, we walked… Barcelona |

After eating breakfast at the Piano Restaurant in the Hotel Silken Diagonal, I took a taxi to Moll d'Adossat where our cruise ship, The Brilliance of the Seas, was waiting. "Brilliance" is one of Royal Caribbean's Radiance Class ships. It's medium size by today's standards, but was consistently… Leaving Barcelona |
