Hotel Shivlock Palace New Delhi Reviews
Jan 08, 2006
We hunted around for a while to try to find a decent hotel in bazaar, and thought we'd done alright in the end. The hotel seemed clean enough, and the owner seemed nice. The price was cheap; it seemed a bit strange because other people were being charged more, and he asked us not to tell anyone. We thought that it might be because we'd come straight from looking at a room in the ultra-cheap place just across the alley.
It seemed that the hotel was rather dodgy, though. We reckon that on at least four separate occasions someone had tried to break into our room. This was in the space of three days. On one occasion we came back to the room to find someone loitering outside suspisciously, and another man standing guard on the stairs; he said hello to us very loudly and unnaturally when we turned up, and his friend immediately stopped whatever he'd been doing.
I wouldn't recommend to anyone to stay in this place. It's not worth the risk. Our friends Anja and Sven had found a perfectly decent place just across the bazaar, and there were probably others to choose from as well. The prices were all pretty much the same, I think.
