Hotel Schloss Gamehl Wismar

I visited Schloss Gamehl, 13 Kilometers east of Wismar, Germany, in May 2009. It is uniquely beautiful and very reasonably priced, considering the history. It is newly renovated. Every room is different, with high ceilings in the lower floors, skylights and slanted walls in the "attick". The staff was very gracious in showing us several rooms, so we could pick the one we liked the best. Very peaceful und qiet surroundings. Great value. Close to the Baltic Sea and beach at Kuehlungsborn (German Emperor's Summer Residence). If you're going to be in this part of Germany, it's worth staying or just stopping in for coffee and cake (Kaffee und Kuchen). We paid 10.70 Euros for a lovely slice of Black Forest Cherry Torte, 1 Cappucino and 2 Icecream cups with fresh strawberries and real whipped cream. Yummy.
