Nice spot in Old Quito. Apr 03, 2011
I stayed at this great spot for several days in March 2011. The staff is very friendly, but be warned that they speak very little (if any) English, so brushing up on your Spanish or having a phrasebook ready could be a good thing!

The rooms are decent, kept clean. Safe location as there is a gate and the desk will buzz you in. The hot water wasn't always consistent but all in all definitely worth the stay. I would also recommend going elsewhere for breakfast, there are some nice spots not too far away from the hotel and bread & eggs can get a little tiring after a few days!

A highlight: head up the (very) many steps to the rooftop, both during the day and at night there is an incredible view of the city. Not to be missed.

Old Spanish Charm in Old Quito Apr 05, 2010
This is an old spanish style hotel with the indoor courtyard. It is close to the main plaza but still not a safe neighborhood in Old Quito. Not recommended for groups; manager's assumption was plain stupid as to what comprises a superior room with a view. Staff was not accomodating; no elevators and no a/c. Bed sheets looked dirty, smelled foul and appear to not have changed. You get what you pay for...not recommended..

Perfectly basic hotel in great location Nov 17, 2009
If you are coming to Quito to immerse yourself in the beauty and history of the old town, this is the perfect place. Located in a converted 18th centrury Spanish style mansion, smack in the heart of old town, Hotel San Francisco de Quito is a delightfully basic hotel with a basic price to match.

The hotel features night time security, 24/7 security gate, free basic breakfast (juice, coffee, biscuts w/butter and jam, and two eggs fried or scrambled), one bottle of water per person, a computer with Internet access and free wifi in the social room, warm comfy beds, hot showers in each room, small tv w/cable in room and daily maid service. It also has a very helpful and friendly staff, happy to go out of their way to assist you with basic hotel needs or finding things to do and see in and around Quito.

And did I mention the price? Rooms range from $25-40 a night; for all of the basics and the extras, and the location, it's the best value in town!
