Affordable downtown option for the budget traveller who wants some privacy... Jan 12, 2011
If you don't want to stay in a dorm or share a bathroom, this place is perfect for 250 - 300 pesos +, depending if you want a window. It's walking distance from the ADO bus station and right at Mercado 23 off Tulum av. where you have cheap eating options and shopping. I got a haircut for 30p & meal of the day for 50p at the market.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. Remember, this isn't a 5 star hotel - The rooms can be a little dusty, and the one without a window is a little depressing, but the room we had on the second floor #6 - Facing the market was bright and sunny, the owner usually charges 350p for the room but since we don't use the AC, we got a deal:) The down side to the room, was the small bathroom with a water leak... oh well. There's a TV and hot water. I'd stay here again. It's perfect for a couple. The avg. price we payed in Mexico for rooms was 250p, the cheapest was 200 and the most expensive was 500 (in Tulum - but the room was really big, as was the bed & there was a fridge) Most places with a private room/bath in the Cancun area are 400 & up, while you can get dorm rooms for as little as 115p.
