Upscale Hotel but not that expensive! Jun 08, 2008
Normally I'm a cheapskate and wouldn't stay in a place this expensive ($53USD a night) but I came to town late and had no other option. Not that I lament my choice because the Presidente is a nice hotel, obviously aimed at wealthier travelers in an older demographic than I. For $53 USD a night I got a room with a double bed and a single, private bath with hot water and awesome shower pressure, breakfast included (buffet), free internet, gym and pool access, and a really responsive concierge staff.
There isn't any regional charm to the hotel, it's modern and decoration looks the same as many US chains, but hey, there's nothing wrong with comforts of home sometimes! If you want to splurge I think you'll be happy at Gran Hotel Presidente |

Hello All,After a bit of confusion I made my bus yesterday. I had bought my ticket in Arica two days previous, and apparently there was a mistake on the reservation. All was fixed, and I took my seat.... in the back of the bus... next to the bathroo…hotel room. I wanted a decent single with a private bath, and without a reservation I had a list of about eight possibilities to try. No money changing at the bus terminal, so I hit the cash machine, and grabbed a taxi. I took the taxi… Salta la Linda. |

i'm struggling a bit with the overnight buses... not through any fault of their own i let you know. they are bloody luxurious in argentina. massive leather nearly fully reclining seats, films, a guy going round serving food and drinks. actually i th…hotel (another flashpack but this time as cheap as the hostels) is in this really old colonial building right on the main plaza. we've again spent the afternoon getting soaked and wandering around. the nice waiter guy in the cafe gave us free orange… more rain |
