Hotel Roberta Mestre

I liked this hotel with the exception that it is about another 5 or so minute walk than its claim from the train station. But it is easy to find. As you exit the main train station, take the street that ends rignt at the front of the train station, walk about 2 or 3 blocks and turn right. The hotel is on your left after the butcher. The hotel is in a Chinese area as it seems, but that offers good cheap places to eat. There are cafes as well and a grocery store that I took advantage of instead. The hotel is very clean and it looks like it is brand new or recently got renovated. The staff is also very friendly and very helpful. The rooms are big in sizes (at least the one I had) and freshly furnished. There was a free basic breakfast in the upstairs and a small lounge area. I came back really late at night from Venice, but I reckon there was live music in the evening in the lounge. But I am not sure. But the place could definitely have a small stage with a small piano/keyboard and a guy singing while the guests sits in the breakfast area. The place has the ambiance.

As far as distance to the island...I would recommend staying here than in the island. Take the train from the train station to the island, it is only 1 Euro one way. Beats having to lug your luggage on very packed water buses on the island. Highly recommend it, and would stay here again. But going back to Venice is another matter.
